COMPANY HISTORY

Dennis E. Yates left J.N. Pease Associates in the summer of 1984 and opened his one-person shop in Concord, NC, as Dennis Yates Associates. In 1987, Mike Chreitzberg, Dennis’s longtime friend and fellow NC State Alumni, joined the firm. Previously working for a national architectural firm in Denver, Colorado, Mike brought architectural insight and design inspiration to the firm. Soon after his arrival, the firm name changed to Yates Chreitzberg Architects. Bill Hughes joined the office in 1995 after graduating from Virginia Tech and has served his entire professional career with the firm. After 14 years of dedicated service, Bill was recognized as a principal, and the company became Yates Chreitzberg Hughes or YCH Architects. For over 38 years, YCH Architects has thrived in the Charlotte region, providing planning and architectural design services for clients, large and small, throughout the Southeast. The practice continues to look forward and advance another generation of talented architects and designers.

YCH employs a highly professional design and support team of dedicated individuals who are regularly engaged in design work, five of which are registered architects. Three of those are partners. Our office works within a highly collaborative environment, integrating all team members into various projects. This interaction draws upon each team member’s strengths and encourages collective thought, which serves to minimize risk and promote the success of any project, no matter how large or small.
